Thankfulness

With Thanksgiving coming soon, I have been wondering about what it truly means to be thankful. Is it when your little girl scores the winning goal for her soccer team? Could thankful mean that you have your health or a roof over your head? What about enjoying the comfort of friends and family on Thanksgiving day. I struggle with this word, because I am not sure if I know what it really means. I sometimes wonder if I only know unthankfulness. I get upset when my child throws her stuff in the floor or if the drive threw at McDonalds is too slow. I don't often stop and thank God for my little girl or the ablity to drive to a resturant.

As I was reading for my lesson for Sunday, I began to realize that Jesus was pretty smart about teaching us thankfulness. In the story of the Ten healed of Leprosy, Jesus heals all ten lepers. Only one man comes back to tell Jesus "Thank you". Jesus points out that he healed all ten lepers, but only one came back.-that seemed to speak to me. Jesus places valve on us saying thank you. I wonder which leper am I?

I wonder how many times that I have a complaining heart and not a thankful heart. I tend to find the drudge in everything. I really what to challenge myself to stop and find the thankfulness in everything. As a family, we decided to start sponsoring a compassion international child. At first, I had an unwilling heart and did not know how we could. I was concerned about our finacial status at this mome
nt. As I looked at this little girl's photo, I could not bear the thought of what she has and what my little girls have. She probably has very little compared to my little girls. I suppose what I am trying to get at is that I have it great, and I need to know gratefulness and thankfulness. I also need to say thank you more often especially to my Savior. I am really not sure if this is what you use a blog for, but it seems therapeutic!

I am thankful for a comfy computer chair for as much as I've been sitting in it! It's the same one Steve helped by for Tim for his bachelor party at the Mouse's Ear...I mean Chuckie Cheese :)

For real...This Thanksgiving holds new meaning for me. I am thankful for a house and that there's no need for a huge fence around it and no bars on the windows. I am most thankful for God's Grace.
"He makes all things new".

Wendy - Who would I be? the one who was healed and never looked back, the Isrealite that grumbled, the wife of Noah who would have said, "God locked us in this boat you built on dry land 5 days ago and nothing yet....Are you sure you heard Him right?" Nicodemus (is that right?) that just had to see if there was a nail hole or even Sarah who took matters into her own hands (Ishmael)... I think I am all of these. I guess I am thankful for His love mostly. I would prefer to be Job, but I am not! THANKFULLY God is God.

Well, Wendy, that is some pretty deep thinking. I was thinking blogging was for just chit chat. I'll respond another day when I'm thinking. Today is not the day.

But I can say that I wish my husband's bachelor's party was at Chuckie Cheeses.

3 hints...

1. She's a girl.
2. She's half Korean.
3. 1 cent is what her name is
worth in currency.

With a name like 1 cent
sounds like she needs to bust a rhynme!

I'm not sure what blogs are for either, but this is good, thought-provoking stuff.

When you figure out the answers, I'd like to know.
